Polish provides luster, adds richness, and enhances beauty. It works on fingernails, shoes, furniture, your car. And on your words.
I’m Ginny Ruths, and I’m passionate about finding exactly the right word in context. As a substantive, developmental, and line editor for 30+ years, I have helped clients around the world refine and polish their writing. My specialty is working with independent authors in both fiction and nonfiction, with services tailored to meet each client’s specific needs.
To tighten your narrative and strengthen reader engagement, I focus on word choice, style, tone, organization, development, themes, flow, and consistency. In fiction, I also address character motivation and growth, plot development, action, pace, timing, and setting. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation are second nature to me.
Experience
My background includes writing, editing, proofreading, design, layout, and production in both nonprofit and commercial businesses, from assistant editor to communications manager. I have extensive experience in fiction, nonfiction, academic, business, and technical editing.
